Air Source Heat Pumps Designed for Your Home
Professional heat-loss assessment, system design, installation and aftercare from JMG Renewables across Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Lake District.
A heat pump should be designed around the property
An air source heat pump takes energy from the outside air and transfers it into a home’s heating and hot-water system. Good performance depends on accurate heat-loss calculations, suitable emitters, correct controls and careful commissioning.
- Room-by-room heat-loss calculations
- Radiator or underfloor-heating assessment
- Hot-water cylinder and control planning
- Clear guidance before installation

Why consider an air source heat pump?
Every home is different, so we explain the likely operation and suitability before recommending a system.
Efficient heat transfer
Heat pumps move available energy rather than producing heat by burning fuel at the property.
Heating and hot water
A correctly designed air-to-water system can supply central heating and a compatible hot-water cylinder.
Lower flow temperatures
Heat pumps are normally designed to run at lower water temperatures for longer periods.
Professional aftercare
JMG Renewables provides servicing, maintenance and support after installation.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme grants
Eligible properties in England and Wales may receive an upfront grant toward a qualifying heat-pump installation. JMG Renewables can assess eligibility and apply through the installer-led scheme.

Grant eligibility and values are subject to the official Boiler Upgrade Scheme rules and may change.
How your installation works
Survey
We assess the property, existing heating, insulation and hot-water requirements.
Design and Quote
We calculate heat loss and specify the heat pump, emitters, cylinder and controls.
Installation
The system is installed, commissioned and grant paperwork is handled where applicable.
Aftercare
We explain the controls and remain available for servicing and maintenance.
Radiators, underfloor heating and hot water
A heat pump is one part of a complete system. We check whether existing radiators are suitable, where upgrades may be needed and whether underfloor heating would support lower operating temperatures.
- Radiator output assessment
- Underfloor-heating compatibility
- Hot-water storage planning
- Weather compensation and controls

Frequently asked questions
Will a heat pump work in cold weather?
Modern air source heat pumps are designed to operate in low outdoor temperatures. Correct sizing and system design are essential for dependable winter performance.
Can a heat pump use my existing radiators?
Sometimes. We calculate each room’s heat loss and check radiator output at the proposed flow temperature. Some radiators may need upgrading.
Do I need a hot-water cylinder?
Most air-to-water heat-pump systems that provide domestic hot water use a compatible cylinder. We specify the size around household demand and available space.
Is underfloor heating required?
No. Heat pumps can work with correctly sized radiators, underfloor heating or a combination of both.
Can you apply for the grant?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is installer-led. Where the property and installation qualify, JMG Renewables can apply for and redeem the voucher on the customer’s behalf.
Do you service heat pumps?
Yes. JMG Renewables provides one-off servicing and maintenance plans for air source heat pumps.
